Detailed Explanation: Multiplication of two numbers having the base 100 and the numbers are less than 100.

Rule is that the one of the numbers is how much below the other number, which is subtracted from the other number.

For example, in the multiplication of 98 × 99, 99 is 1 less than 100, so 1 is subtracted from the other number, 98; so that it becomes 98-1 = 97 and we read it as 97 hundreds (as the base is 100). Then, we see that the two numbers are how much below the base 100. We multiply them and add. So, the answer is 97 hundred and 02 (-2 × -1 = 2)

So, the required answer is 10710 Ans.

98 × 99 = [(98-1) ×100 + (-2×-1)] = 9702

Similarly, in the product of 96 × 98 ; 96 and 98 are below respectively by 4 and 2 from the base 100, so either 4 is subtracted from 98 or 2 is subtracted from 96. In each case we get 94, and read it as 94 hundreds.  And, -4×-2 = 08. So, the answer is 9408.
